Terms of use
Structured draft for website, account and API use
1. Provider and scope
These Terms & Conditions apply to the use of calco2la.to, including the public website, registered accounts, API access, connector resources, documentation, and related services provided by ADD ideas UG (haftungsbeschränkt).
Separate written agreements, offers, order forms or framework agreements take precedence over these Terms & Conditions where they expressly regulate the same subject matter.
2. Definitions
- Service
- The calco2la.to website, dashboard, API, documentation, connector resources and related support or integration services.
- User
- Any person accessing the public website, creating an account, using the dashboard, or using the API directly or indirectly.
- Organization
- A legal entity, institution, department, project group or similar unit using calco2la.to through an account, API key, license or agreement.
- API key
- A credential used to authenticate requests to the calco2la.to API.
- Connector
- A software library, configuration, example or integration component intended to simplify or abstract access to emission calculation APIs.
3. Public website use
The public website may be used for general information and, where available, limited web-based emission calculations. Public use may be rate-limited, restricted, changed or discontinued where necessary for security, maintenance, abuse prevention or product development.
4. Accounts and registration
Some functions require registration. Users must provide accurate information, keep account credentials confidential, and prevent unauthorized access.
We may suspend or restrict accounts if there is reason to believe that credentials have been compromised, the service is being misused, or legal, security or operational requirements make this necessary.
5. API access
API access requires a valid API key unless expressly stated otherwise. API keys may be bound to an organization, project, account, contract, license or usage tier.
API keys must be kept confidential and may not be shared publicly, embedded in public client-side code, transferred to unauthorized third parties, or used outside the agreed scope.
We may rotate, revoke, suspend or limit API keys where this is necessary for security, abuse prevention, contract compliance, maintenance or operational stability.
6. Usage limits, fair use and availability
Free and public access may be subject to strict rate limits. Pilot, organization and framework usage may be subject to agreed fair-use rules, quotas, operational limits or separate contractual terms.
We aim to provide a reliable service, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed unless a separate service level agreement expressly provides otherwise.
7. Emission calculations and results
Emission calculations depend on input data, calculation models, factors, assumptions, provider capabilities and the applicable version at the time of calculation.
calco2la.to aims to support transparent, replayable and auditable calculation responses. However, calculation results are informational and technical outputs unless a separate agreement defines a specific legal, accounting, reporting or certification purpose.
Users are responsible for checking whether calculation results are suitable for their intended administrative, reporting, procurement, accounting or compliance use case.
8. Connector resources and open-source components
Connector repositories, examples, schemas, configuration files or libraries may be provided to support integration. Unless otherwise stated, repository-specific license files govern the use of those software components.
Connector resources may be experimental, incomplete or proof-of-concept material. Production use should be evaluated carefully and, where appropriate, agreed separately.
9. Acceptable use
Users must not misuse the service. In particular, users must not:
- attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, access controls or security measures;
- use the service for unlawful purposes or in violation of third-party rights;
- send excessive automated requests outside the agreed usage scope;
- interfere with the operation, security or integrity of the service;
- reverse engineer, scrape or copy non-public parts of the service except where legally permitted or expressly agreed.
10. Customer content and input data
Users are responsible for the correctness and lawfulness of data they submit to the service, including calculation inputs, organization data, user information and integration data.
Users should not submit sensitive personal data unless this is necessary, legally permitted, and covered by the applicable agreement or data protection arrangement.
11. Data protection
Information about the processing of personal data is provided in the Privacy Policy. Open Privacy Policy
12. Fees and paid services
Paid packages, pilots, organization licenses, framework agreements, support services or integration work are subject to the respective offer, order confirmation, contract or written agreement.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, prices shown on the website are indicative and may depend on scope, deployment model, support requirements, usage volume and procurement structure.
13. Intellectual property
The website, documentation, branding, texts, layouts and non-open-source service components are protected by intellectual property rights. Users receive only the rights necessary to use the service within the agreed scope.
Open-source connector components are governed by their respective repository licenses.
14. Changes to the service
We may develop, improve, change or discontinue parts of the service, especially during beta, pilot or proof-of-concept phases. For paid or contractually agreed services, applicable agreements determine the scope of change, notice and continuity obligations.
15. Liability
Liability is governed by applicable law and any separate agreement. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits liability where limitation is not legally permitted, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or mandatory statutory liability.
16. Term, suspension and termination
Free access may be discontinued at any time. Registered accounts, API access and paid services may be suspended or terminated according to the applicable agreement, usage tier or legal requirements.
17. Governing law and place of jurisdiction
Unless mandatory law provides otherwise, the law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. For business customers, public-sector organizations and legal entities under public law, the place of jurisdiction may be agreed separately.
18. Final provisions
If individual provisions of these Terms & Conditions are invalid, the remaining provisions remain unaffected. Statutory law applies in place of invalid provisions.
19. Status
These Terms & Conditions are currently valid as of May 2026.
